The Wedding Party is a series that captures a non-traditional gathering of near-naked men. Rather than focus on the provocations of nudity, The Wedding Party raises issues of intimacy, domesticity, identity, and depth. Although there is an apparent dialogue that we recognize through proximity and body language, the figures are nevertheless remote and even anonymous. Like actors, the subjects are aware of the implications in their behavior, and consequently make that behavior difficult to interpret. Vivian Haas has completed an almost obsessive mountain of parade studies. Primarily a painter, she has developed her own language where naive forms decorate the canvas. Although abstract, what she suggests is surprisingly specific and engages the audience in a moments of “aha,” as the vocabulary of her image provokes personal memories and associations. She herself is an enigma of sorts, and boasts the same ignorance that her paintings would imply at first glance. Around the Coyote

Green Lantern was part of Wicker Park’s annual arts fair, Around the coyote, where local galleries and studios were open to the public. Green Lantern hosted artists, Brian Collier and Stephen Eichorn for three days. It was an eclectic group of three. Collier has developed a new methodology for classifying very small things. This interactive installation did an excellent job of engaging the public and giving them an opportunity to take the time to interact with both the very small objects and Green Lantern, itself.
